SIRIUS’ Biography
Sirius a.k.a The Dogg Star was born in San José, Costa Rica on November 26th 1982. While growing up, he would perform at local events whenever the opportunity presented itself. In 1996 when Makaveli released his cassette “The 7 day theory”, Sirius received it as a gift. Liking the sound of the music and the beats he then began to want to know everything about the music he enjoyed, given that he did not speak English he found himself with the challenge to learn the English language to understand the lyrics. This process grew into a love of hip hop and became a turning point in his life. Later in life after realizing that he was able to rap his own lyrics he decided to pursue a career of keepin hip hop real and alive.
After graduating from high school, Sirius moved to California. While there, Sirius continued to practice English, and obtained employment in order to save up for college.
Upon his return to Costa Rica, he began attending the University of Costa Rica for a period of four years. However in 2004 Sirius decided he wanted more out of life. He believed that the system had misguided him and he decided to follow his own path. Some felt he was “loco”, however he knew he was capable of much more and chose to follow his dream. After making the decision to follow his own path, Sirius found himself faced with the challenge to make his dream come true. This included finding employment and hustlin during the day to pay the bills while working on developing his own writing skills. Later on, Sirius had the opportunity to record a number of songs, these songs were originally intended to be the first album, however given some changes in his life he decided to abandon these songs. One of these changes included a change in his mentality about life and a desire to do things differently.
At this point Sirius decided to leave Costa Rica and move to New York. Given that he wasnt happy with his past, he wanted to move on, and begin a new life, once in New York Sirius would turn to the Bible and the internet in an attempt to try and understand life around him, he could not understand how there was so much hate and harm in the world, he needed answers. Sirius would spend countless hours reading and studying the Scriptures and would find that many things happening in our world today correlate to Bible prophecy, this lead to a realization that end time prophecy is being fulfilled today and that secret societies are working to fulfill them.
While in New York, Sirius had the opportunity to meet and record with other hip hop artists like his friend the Puerto Rican Rapper El Mochuelo. Sirius was also able to learn alot about the Hip Hop game, and after meeting with several people from different areas of the entertainment industry, as well as battling rappers where hip hop was born, he found just the right amount of confidence that he needed to continue pursuing his career.
Back in Costa Rica with everything he had learned, Sirius began working towards making his dream happen, of telling everyone the truth about what is going on in the world. Sirius also began making connections that would lead to him being featured in the Song and Video Califotoman by the Costa Rican band Le*Pop. This would take Sirius, performing with Le*Pop, to several different countries, and would end up taking first place in the contest “La Zona de Combate” by MTV.
Sirius takes his name from the brightest star in the night sky, approximately 20 times brighter than the Sun and twice a massive. It is part of the constellation Canis Major, which Sirius also has chosen as the name for his Crew, currently bringing together the artists, Souljah, Major C, and the female hip hop dance group Scratch.
